HOW IT
How It’s Made
To know what goes into and how a PE Foam roll is made, the diagram below explains in general how little plastic resins are made into foamed PE rolls.
- Plastic resin stored in hopper
- Fed into chamber to melt until molten
- Transfer to primary screw die of higher temperature
- High pressure gas, as foaming agent, injected to cause molten plastic to foam
- Transfer to secondary screw die of lower temperature
- Pressure difference causes plastic to extrude through a mould die
- Room temperature instantly cools and solidify expanding polyethylene plastic
- Guide poles cut and transfer extruded foam into rewinder
- Pre-determined length once reached is cut for subsequent roll
